Leesburg Bike Trail Maps

On April 22nd, 2017 The Town of Leesburg held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly signed Bike Routes in Leesburg.  Two new routes, a Green Trail on the west side of town and a Blue Trail on the east side now connect key locations to the W&OD Trail and downtown all using Shared Use Paths, safe and separate from the roadways and streets.

The Green Trail starts near Loudoun County High School and follows Catoctin Circle and Fairview to Morven Park, Ida Lee Park, The Rust Library and on up North King Street to Battlefield Parkway,  Tuscarora High School and Smarts Mill Middle School.  

The Blue Trail starts underneath Battlefield Parkway overpass of the W&OD, follows a Shared Use Path to Tuscarora Creek Park then along Battlefield to Russell Branch Parkway (Lowe's) to the Village at Leesburg (Wegman's) -- the first time downtown Leesburg is now connected to the Village at Leesburg with a  safe bike route.  Then from Wegman's, the Blue Trail follows the Shared Use Path along River Creek Parkway to Potomac Station Drive back to Battlefield and then ending (for now) at Balls Bluff Northern Virginia Regional Park.

Bike Loudoun is working with the Town of Leesburg's Parks and Recreation Department to sign additional routes as they are built.

The next section to be added will be the new Shared Use Path along the North side of the new section of Battlefield Parkway that is being constructed between South King Street and Evergreen Mills Road.  This project, expected to be completed in Spring of 2018, will allow a continuous loop from the W&OD at Tuscarora Creek Park south and west to Heritage High School and on to King Street and back into Leesburg and connect again with the W&OD. Another key development is the construction of a pedestrian crossing at the Route 15 Bypass at Battlefield Parkway intersection.  The project, to be completed in the fall of 2018, will include sidewalk extension to the Bypass on the west, a trail extension from the Bypass to the east, and pedestrian signals and crosswalks at the Bypass.   For more information and the latest updates click here.

Bike Parking in Leesburg is available in many locations.  Two covered parking areas in downtown Leesburg specifically for bicycles are:

1. Town Hall Garage

The Town Hall Garage, located beside the Leesburg Town Hall, has great bike parking.  The mural above shows the designated area in the Town Hall Garage

2. Loudoun County Garage
146 Loudoun St SE (link to Google maps)
The Loudoun County Garage, located behind the County Government Building, also has covered bike parking.

Other bike parking locations include:  Ida Lee Park at the AV Symington Aquatic Center, at some retail centers in the various strip malls, and most of the town parks.  If you know of other areas that need bike parking, let us know.
